The adapter consists of two interlocking components that are twisted together. When the lid is tightened onto the base, the rigid compression plate will apply pressure to the flexible collar, causing it to deform and form a safe, leak free seal around the inserted tobacco or electronic cigarette product. On the other side, the filter bracket is connected to the base and comes in two sizes -44mm and 55mm - to accommodate standard filter pads for mainstream smoke and aerosol collection.
Unlike traditional adapters, the collar material is carefully designed to provide a secure grip without distorting the product, ensuring consistent and reliable sealing. To support a variety of nozzle shapes and sizes, the starter kit includes four flexible collars, each with a unique size and geometry suitable for tobacco and e-cigarette products.
In order to ensure safe and leak free sealing for accurate emission testing, users must first select the correct collar for the tested product. This is achieved by measuring the dimensions of the product mouth, particularly its width and height (for non-circular shapes) or diameter (for circular contours). Then cross reference these measurements with the table above, which outlines the appropriate collar sizes and geometries. Each collar has a color code for easy identification: blue, red, green, or yellow, corresponding to small or large circular and elliptical openings.
For heavier or larger products, additional support may be required once installed on the smoking machine. To maintain optimal performance and ensure stability during testing, we recommend using button activation systems that provide sufficient support for the product while ensuring consistent operation.
